On the eastern slopes of the Ecuadorian Andes, it grows the majestic Sumaco volcano. In one of the roads leading to the base of the volcano, we saw at sunset a tree with two Chestnut-fronted Macaw (Ara severus), but looking through the viewfinder of the camera, I saw they were not alone. Four Yellow-tufted Woodpeckers (Melanerpes cruentatus) accompanied them. I support quickly my camera as I could, because there was low light, and I overexposed for a high key of this beautiful scene. Within seconds all carpenters were flying to a dry tree where they had their nests, like the Macaws.Technical information: Canon 70d, Canon 300mm f2.8 IS L, F/4,5, 1/250s at ISO 640. Digital adjustments: contrast, sharpening, global saturation, noise reduction.
